Event Hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver

Have you ever wondered if your Baked Goods could be prize winners?  Are your Preserved Foods picture perfect?  Join us for a fun and tasty evening with a Fair Judge and find out what it takes to be a winner.  Bring your Baked Good, Jams/Jellies or pickled vegetables for discussion and judging.  If you are willing, we will share your items, making this an informative and tasty evening for everyone who attends. You do not need to bring baked goods or preserved food, everyone is welcome to join the fun conversation.

Janet Tighelaar will walk us through her career as a fair judge and what it takes to win a ribbon at a local or State Fair.  Janet is a resident of Ellicottville, NY and Ontario, Canada and has been an Ontario Homecraft , Jr. and school fair judge for about 30 years.  She’s been a member of her local fair since 1986.  She is qualified teacher of  canning and baking judging  to fair judges for the province of Ontario.  Janet says, “I love the job, working with people with like interests is a joy and privilege.”

If you are thinking of submitting baked good or preserved food to the County Fair this year, why not give your recipe a test drive and participate in this fun event.

If you are not able to attend, but would like feedback on your item, you can leave it at the CCE office for comments, please contact the office to arrange a drop-off time 716-699-2377.
