Gardening for Birds

Becca Rodomsky-Bish, of the Cornell University Lab, will discuss how you can support birds in your garden and landscape.

Birds are extremely important to our ecosystem and integrated into our food web. Birds eat insects. They are a natural way to control pests in gardens and farms. Nectar-feeding birds are important pollinators, meaning they move the pollen from flower to flower to help create new plants. Many fruit-eating birds help disperse seeds. After eating fruit, they carry the seeds and deposit them in new places.
