Understanding the Business, Tax and Regulatory Implications of Your Farm

If you ask a hundred people why they've gotten into farming, not a single one of them will answer "because I love risk management!" And yet, farming is an inherently riskier business than most, and those who are aware of risks and plan to mitigate them will set themselves up for long-term success.

Enter Taking Care of Business (BF 103): Understanding the Business, Tax, and Regulatory Implications of Your Farm, a 6-week online course offered Mar 9 - Apr 13, 2015 with Monday night webinars 7-8:30pm EDT. If you aren't able to attend in real time, webinars are always recorded and posted for later viewing.

The intro-level course is targeted to NY-based farmers seeking to learn about the commercial, legal and tax implications of farming. Farmers outside NYS can take the course, but should know that extra legwork will be required on the part of the farmer to determine the parallel agencies and regulations that apply in their state.

New this year! Participants who complete all requirements of one or more online courses are eligible to be endorsed for a 0% interest loan of up to $10,000 through Kiva Zip.

All of our courses consist of weekly real-time webinars followed by homework, readings, and discussions on your own time in an online setting. There is a fee for course; up to 4 people from the same farm may participate for one fee.

Courses often fill very quickly, so don't miss your chance to sign up today! For more information contact Lynn Bliven, Ag Issue Leader Cornell University Cooperative Extension 585-268-7644 ext. 18 or email lao3 [at] cornell.edu.
