2015 Keynote Speaker for Farmer-Neighbor Dinner

Dean E. Norton, New York Farm Bureau President, was the Keynote Speaker for the Farmer-Neighbor Dinner on April 8, 2015 and here is a little bit about Dean.

Dean E. Norton was elected to the Presidency of New York Farm Bureau in 2008. New York Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general agricultural advocacy organization.

Prior to his election, Dean served on the New York Farm Bureau Board of Directors for four years, and was a member of the Executive Committee. He has held a variety of leadership positions within the Farm Bureau system, serving as the Genesee County Farm Bureau President and Chairman of the Western New York Regional Farm Bureau Office Advisory Board. Dean also serves on the New York Farm Bureau Foundation for New York Agricultural Education Board of Directors. In 2010, Dean was elected to serve on the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors, and serves on the Policy Review Committee and the Trade Advisory Task Force. Dean has also been appointed to serve on the AFBF Foundation for Agricultural Education Board.

Dean’s family owns Oak Orchard Dairy Farm in Elba, New York along with a custom trucking operation for forage and commodity harvesting. Dean, along with his wife Melanie, operates DMCK Cattle Company. Dean is employed by Freed, Maxick & Battaglia CPA’s as a Senior Agriculture Consultant.

Dean is a graduate of the Genesee Community College with an AS degree in Business Administration, and a 2003 graduate of Cornell University’s Empire State Food and Agriculture Leadership Institute.

Dean’s former leadership positions include the Upstate-Niagara Milk Cooperative’s Young Cooperator’s Program. In his spare time, he serves as an IAABO Board 60 Boys’ Basketball Official. Dean and his wife Melanie, and their two children reside in Elba, NY and are parishioners at the Albion First United Methodist Church.
