Cattaraugus County 4-H Horse Members Jump to Success

Tue, 05/20/2025 - 8:03am -- CSMaxwell

On Sunday, May 4th, five Cattaraugus County 4-H members were selected to participate in our second “Ride for Success” with clinicians Bobbie Kerr and Rebecca Clawson hosted by our 4-H Horse Committee members at Fox Run Equestrian in East Aurora, NY.

As a follow up to our first Ride for Success, this clinic focused on Dressage, led by Bobbie Kerr and Jumping, led by Rebecca Clawson. Dressage is when the horse and rider work together to perform a series of precise movements with grace and elegance. Jumping is when the horse and rider attempt to clear a series of obstacles, typically fences, as cleanly and quickly as possible. Our 4-H members were able to receive one-on-one instruction throughout the day to enhance their skills in both disciplines.

These clinics were made possible by the outstanding fundraising efforts our 4-H Horse Committee made along with their innovative ideas to make this a reality for our youth. One of those fundraisers is coming up on June 6th – 8th. Our Bonanza Horse Show at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds in Little Valley, NY is open to all!
