Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Cattaraugus County is teaming up with native plant experts at My Home Park to launch their first native plant sale fundraiser aimed at beautifying local landscapes while promoting ecological health and water conservation.
The sale offers a curated selection of restoration-grade native plants — grown without harmful pesticides and selected to support pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects. These plants are restoration grade, ship directly and safely from expert nurseries to a person’s home and are an ideal choice to genuinely improve the look and health of local yards.
“Many people don’t realize how powerful native plants can be in restoring the health of our ecosystems,” said Kelly Mcdonald, Executive Director-CCE-Catt Co. “This sale allows residents to create habitat, manage water naturally, and support Cornell Cooperative Extension’s educational work all at once.” Another Master Gardener writes “I'm so excited about the native garden plants offering - sign me up!”
This spring plant sale is part of a broader initiative to encourage sustainable landscaping and stormwater management, including the use of rain barrels to reduce runoff and conserve water. By pairing rain barrels with deep-rooted native species, homeowners can create landscapes that require less maintenance while contributing to cleaner local waterways.
A considerable portion of every sale will directly support CCE’s Master Gardener programming in Cattaraugus County, which includes Master Gardener programs, Garden Based Learning, Sustainability practices, Educational Outreach in the community, Seed to Supper gardening education, and more.
The spring native plant sale is open for a limited time and orders are strongly encouraged as plants are limited. This sale starts on May 12, 2025.
