Rick Miller, a Central New York native, has worked at the Olean Times Herald since September 1980. Earlier he worked for the Salamanca Republican Press and the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging. He is currently the Cattaraugus County reporter and a photographer. He also covers the political, agricultural, environmental, economic development and Allegany State Park beats for the Times Herald.
His interest in farming and farmers dates back to his working on a neighbor's farm as a teen-ager, stacking hay bales on a wagon and unloading onto an elevator, and feeding heifers twice a day.
He is graduate of SUNY Morrisville, and the S.I. Newhouse Journalism School at Syracuse University, where he majored in newspapers with a minor in sociology.
Rick lives in Eden with his wife, Barbara, a reporter for the Buffalo News, and their three children, Chris, Molly and Jamie.
