Cattaraugus County 4-H Horse Members Ride for Success

Mon, 04/07/2025 - 1:07pm -- CSMaxwell

On Sunday, March 30th, ten Cattaraugus County 4-H members were selected to participate in our first “Ride for Success” with clinician Chase Barnes hosted by our 4-H Horse Committee members at Linn Acres Performance Horses in Portville, NY.

Ride for Success is a clinic, developed by our volunteers, where members of our 4-H horse program can have the opportunity to work one on one with a skilled professional to further hone their own riding techniques. The focus of this clinic was Western and English Pleasure. Western is when horses and riders emphasize a slow, collected gait with a relaxed and calm demeanor, whereas in English, horses and riders are expected to cover ground efficiently with a larger stride and more poise.

Our committee is holding a second Ride for Success on Sunday, May 4th at Fox Run Equestrian in East Aurora where the focus will be on Dressage with clinician Bobbie Kerr and Jumping with Rebecca Clawson. We are extending the invitation to all enthusiasts near and far! Auditing the event is just $10 per person.
